Since it's known that the covid19 virus is around ten times more lethal than most flu strains, shutdowns will not need to occur with a flu season but that was never a serious consideration in the first place so why do you present that false equivalency as some sort of argument followed by, "Sounds like a great idea to me"?Originally Posted by Darian Rachal
Perhaps there should be a mask mandate along with a vaccine mandate every flu season. We can shut down schools, businesses. sporting events, etc. Sounds like a great idea to me.
What is wrong with you?

Rod, as you well know, the death rate for the covid 19 virus is minuscule regardless of whether it's 10x more lethal than the virus or not. I'll take your word on the 10x.Originally Posted by Rod Kaufman

Jim, I'm willing to bet that most people who voted for Trump probably despised Obama as President, but it never crossed their minds to question the legitimacy of his election. In the minds of many Trump supporters, I suspect there is the view that there was something about the election that just didn't quite seem "kosher". I suspect that is Steve's sentiment.Originally Posted by Jim Moscheck

I've asked a few times and he just ignores it, posts a picture of rural Pennsyl-tuckey, posts a finger emoji, or his favorite pic that he thinks upsets democrats. Just thinking that if Jim B. can convince him that mask wearing can help mitigate the spread of Covid and/or the flu he might take to heart the evidence against the election being stolen. Not holding my breath.

“Globally, about 3.4% of reported COVID-19 cases have died. By comparison, seasonal flu generally kills far fewer than 1% of those infected.”
Total Global deaths as of today: 2,578,988
Total USA deaths as of today: 522,752
No, I don't think the death rate for covid19 is miniscule and I question the rationality of those who think otherwise...

No one is suggesting that extreme non-pharmaceutical interventions are a good idea every year. However, this data completely obliterates the complaint that masks, hand-washing, social-distancing, etc., do not work. Clearly, they do, and it's a shame that our national and state and even regional leadership has made these simple, common-sense measures a controversial issue. And which side drove the division in America over something as simple as mask-wearing? Well, we can certainly start with Trump's vanity and his feckless and chaotic response to the pandemic.

The epidemiologists have been right in every one of their predictions. And one of their predictions is that if we had ignored COVIOD as no more dangerous than the normal flu, we would be looking at millions, possibly tens of millions of dead Americans, not just 500,000 plus and counting. All I can say is thank goodness that the right-wing view did not prevail entirely because otherwise, this would have been so much worse.

Jim I sent Brian a message and told him I was sorry I had done that to his name and he said from the way I understand no big deal. As far as Richard goes I wish he was still on here but try to tame it down just little.Originally Posted by James Lacey
Seriously? This lament from the guy that twisted a member's last name into McFartland and who continually posts memes denigrating the left as cry-babies? Look, we get it. You idolized Richard. Maybe you thought he was edgy. Perhaps you admired his in-your-face, take-no-prisoners, aggressive style. Undoubtedly, you agreed with him a lot. However, Richard is/was an asshole in every sense of the word. Any disdain or vinegar poured out on his absence is entirely appropriate given the treatment he dealt out here for years. His departure due to his childish behavior will inevitably create some chatter, but I expect it will die down with time. We might even get some new forum members that Richard doesn't run-off immediately with his caustic and malignant narcissistic personality. That would be a welcome change alone.
