Hi I just purchased a new 18mm radian, my first radian, and I noticed its manufacture to be from R.O.C, I was expecting Japan! Is this normal practice, or should I be looking for one from somewhere else. Does anybody have any input?

Yup, they are made in both places it seems.

All three of mine are made in Taiwan R.O.C. also.

Yes, all Radians and to my knowledge all of the Panoptics and Naglers except for the Type 6's and Zooms are made in Taiwan. FWIW, I think this source's QC is pretty good, and I'd have a hard time believing the Japanese factory is better, given that the two defects I've ever seen in Tele Vue eyepieces came from the Japanese source, not the Taiwanese source. Besides, times change. Take care that general notions of where high quality is produced do not become outdated. Cheap eyepieces have been "cost-reduced" to the PRC by now. It's hard to find a cheap eyepiece that is made in Taiwan anymore. For awhile Meade Stupor Plossls (I just like to poke at Meade for copying Tele Vue and making grandiose claims) and inexpensive Celestron Plossls were coming from ROC, but that is a thing of the past.
