Well, I bought a 14mm Pentax XL. I just could not pass it up! shocked
I already have a 14mm UWA so I did not need it, but I like the Pentax XL 7mm and 10.5mm so well and the price was so good, I just had to have it. This has got to be an illness! 8O
Ocular fever? But for $175 shipped in new condition, well my mind was just reeling and I got all dizzy and just sent the money by Paypal before my head cleared. :S
I will just have to see whether I like it better than the 14mm UWA which I doubt, but I think I will like it enough to not want to get rid of it anyway.

Oh geez Floyd! I'm laughing hysterically! You're just like me - or vice versa.
Except I'm looking for a 5.2 XL - to complement my 4.8 Nagler. And 4.7 UW. And 5 Radian (or does that compliment the 6mm Radian?) :S

I had both the 14mm Meade UWA and the 14mm Pentax XL for awhile. IMO, it's not the equal of the 10.5mm and shorter XL's in faster scopes due to field curvature. It's better than the 21mm XL in this regard, but still not nearly as flat as teh 10.5mm. I liked the 14mm Meade UWA better, although it's hard to complain about the quality of the 14mm Pentax XL. What I really would have liked, and still would like, is a a Pentax implementation of the 14mm Meade UWA design, with Pentax coatings and attention to baffling and other build detail.

So you got that thing, Floyd. I looked at it hard but, having just shelled out the bucks for an FS78, had to let it pass. Hope you take the time to give us a report on it. I don't have anything faster than f6, so probably won't have the curvature problem.

Saw another 14XL up for sale this morning. Man, what you see when you don't have a gun!
