Nagler 7 or Nagler 5?

n my scope my Nagler 9 gives 161x. (The scope is an 11 f4.55 SM Dob with Paracorr yeilding an effective focal e length of 62.5 inches). I need something higher for the moon and planets. Seeing is not so good here in Ohio. A Nagler 7 would give 208x, which sounds a bit low -- 250 would be perfect I think -- and a 5 Nagler would give 280. Which should I choose?
Thanks for any advice.

Hi Bill,
Have you tried the Radians? You might consider a 5mm Radian. I like them for high power. I have an old 4.8 Nagler, but I usually use a 6, 5 or 4mm Radian when I'm going for power. Then again, I haven't even tried the T6 Naglers. They might blow the 4.8 out of the water, er uh sky, for all I know. So many EP's, so little dollars. wink

Bill,

I agree.

...

Oh, well, I have both 7mm and 5mm Type 6's. I guess if I had to pick one of them in your shoes, I'd pick the 5mm, but there's reason I have both, and I use them both. If you want something to use when seeing is below average, then maybe the 7mm would be better, but my thinking is that below average seeing is less important than average or better, so when I have to leave a hole somewhere, I choose to leave the hole for the conditions that will be less satisfying anyway.

Aw shucks guys.
All this talk about the T6 Naglers has got me curious now.
I might have to get a 7mm (226x), just to find out for myself. wink
