ISS with Stellacam EX video camera

This image was taken a few weeks ago. The ISS achieved an 84* elevation on a pass near my location. I used a 16" f5 dob at prime focus and fed the Stellacam EX composite video signal to a DVD recorder in high speed mode. DVD recorders are fairly cheap now. A Telrad was used for guiding (as well as a hug). This is one frame of many that was recorded on my first attempt at satellite imaging.

Lonnie,

An outstanding image of the ISS taken with the Stellacam and your fine instrument. The amount of detail resolved is very impressive. I think that you would have imaged a cosmonaut!

Hi Lonnie,

Excellent! ISS image, having hand guided my 14.5 Dob
while imaging the ISS on several occasions I know just how difficult it is smile

Thanks,

Wes Higgins

Hi Lonnie,

Sweet shot, particularly considering you were hand-guiding that 16" behemoth!

Terrific results on a very difficult target. Congrats.

In case you haven't seen Philip Masding's ISS simulator:

His simulated views, coupled with the actual captured image adds validity and helps pick out details - IMHO.

Keep up the good work!
