Hi all, i don't know your experince with align on differnce place (Craters) on the moon. But this is a Image from Clavius by a a seeing thats call: big waves from bad till good.
The problem is when you align on one spot, the resolution on that spot is good and else not bad ,but not so good.
So I have this Calvius Align on 6 spots an put it together.
Have Someboy the same experince ?

Hi Richard,

Excellent! image, with a certain type of seeing condition multiple alignment points can make a big improvement to a lunar image, I have used that technique on some images with good results, the problem as you well know is that it takes so much extra time to do it.
I hear Iris has a function to do something similar but from the images I have seen the results are not as good as doing a real multiple alignment.
That is a very! detailed image and thanks for posting it.

Hi Richard,

Thats a very fine image with excellent resolution. I also had that same problem. Some of the lunar images i did recently were aligned on several points for best effect - it really makes a difference.

Hi Richard -

Excellent image! I use this technique often - both on the moon and on Jupiter and Saturn. It does take much longer to process this way but it without using it there would be precious few nights in my location where decent results would be possible.

best wishes,
Alan

Hello Richard,

Awesome image.

I also sometimes use multiple alignment points and then construct the final image from the best parts. Time consuming but it works well when the seeing is poor.

Nice image, sharp as a razor blade! Yes, a multiple alignment helps. The later Registax can do it although the task looks simpler to do in Iris.
