Cocoon Nebula

Clear night last night so: Have Telescope Will shoot

What's interesting is that there are tiny galaxies in this image which are shining thru our Milky Way galaxy.

Oooh love it! I especially like images of challenging but familiar visual objects. The "little" galaxies in the background also very cool. Seems that in a deep, busy field... the oblique spirals with core are easiest to pick out from the stars. The B&W I also like. Tom

Yup, lots of small galaxies out there, nice.

nice photo! On a recent dark-sky trip I tried to view this, the dark Cocoon stood out, it was just as visible as in the image. The nebula itself was barely apparent though, just the slightest hint of nebulosity visible, it's a difficult visual object.
