Original sin?

I feel the original sin was when Man decided to state with word and pen what God feels and expects from Man. This was the beginning of all religious strife and persecution as I see it.
When a few men decided that God was talking directly to them and commanded that he tell all the people what his plan was, they were placing themselves above all others and implied that they alone knew the truth.
There have been many of these people in the past, even in the recent past, some started cults that ended tragically and some religions that still prevail. But in the end, I really wonder whether they were conversing with God, or just delusions from within?

Floyd,

The pen is mightier than the sword, eh?

It is not the writings, but extremists that use them to hurt others.

Matthew 7:15
Watch out for false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are voracious wolves. 20 7:16 You will recognize them by their fruit. Grapes are not gathered 21 from thorns or figs from thistles, are they? 22 7:17 In the same way, every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad 23 tree bears bad fruit. 7:18 A good tree is not able to bear bad fruit, nor a bad tree to bear good fruit.

Of course, now we just have to determine what constitutes good fruit.

I can only think that love is the good fruit.

Love God. Love people.

So simple, yet so hard.

The first sin, first human sin, had to be the first person to turn against love. I still vote for Cain.

And yet, Cain was maybe forgiven. God protected him with a mark so that he would not be killed.

Much more tolerance is needed.
