Delahunt (D-Mass) and three others want us to pay more. Do most Mass voters agree?

If they really want to help brick-n-mortar retailers, they should tax the internet and put the money into cops at mall. Why go to the mall and put up with the high hoodlum count when you can just order online?

Mel, that's just the beginning. The Dems are in control and they want everyone's money. Unless we vote the Republicans in contol of the House and Senate more tax increases on the poor and middle class are slated for Jan 1st:

- The 10% bracket rises to an expanded 15%
- The 25% bracket rises to 28%
These are the "Bush tax cuts on the rich." Everybody pays the bottom bracket, most middle class the second bracket.

The "marriage penalty" (narrower tax brackets for married couples) will return from the first dollar of income.
Can you spell D-I-V-O-R-C-E?

The child tax credit will be cut in half from $1000 to $500 per child. Of course it's a lot cheaper to raise a child these days, especially on UI checks!

The standard deduction will no longer be doubled for married couples relative to the single level. Yep, that's actually on the Dems tax plate and could be a reality.

Not to mention about 2 dozen tax increases from Obamacare automatically kicking in in january. Someone on this thread already mentioned that the FUT (Federal Unemployment Tax) has already been increased for all business. The "Death Tax" cometh again. Also thanks to Obama: Americans will no longer be able to use health savings account (HSA), flexible spending account (FSA), or health reimbursement (HRA) pre-tax dollars to purchase non-prescription, over-the-counter medicines. Obama also lowered the FSA ceiling, restricting what parents and guardians get for caring for special needs children. (Obama is sooooo compassionate, isn't he?).

The AMT (Alternative Minimum Tax) will catch 4 million more families next year.

Small business will take a tax bath when they can no longer claim equipment purchases as one-time expenses. After January 1st, it will have to be depreciated. And in general, all kinds of business taxes (especially related to HC reform) start in 2011.

And teachers will be taking a bath in the tax bathtub as well. The deduction for tuition and fees will not be available. Tax credits for education will be limited. Teachers will no longer be able to deduct classroom expenses. Coverdell Education Savings Accounts will be cut. Employer-provided educational assistance is curtailed. The student loan interest deduction will be disallowed for hundreds of thousands of families.

And the first step to eliminating all deductions for charitable contributions: Under current law, a retired person with an IRA can contribute up to $100,000 per year directly to a charity from their IRA. This will no longer be allowed.

Democrats are so compassionate, aren't they?

I frankly don't understand why there has been an exemption for as long as it is. Brick and mortar or not, the company resides in a state, with a building and infrastructure, them not collecting paying tax is discriminatory as compared to those that do, period, IMHO. I started a leasing company 2 years ago, most of the business is local, but via the internet for a financial service. I have to charge, collect and pay sales tax,,,,,,,,,,,, :S
