Was observing the western segment of the Veil nebula last night about midnight (Pacific Daylight Time, Table Mountain, Washington). I was using a 22 Nagler with a UHC filter.
All of a sudden I saw a "pulse" of light near 52 Cygni, maybe 20" away, looked like about a mag 5 star and lasted maybe 0.2 seconds. I thought maybe I had imagined it and lo! it happened again! At first I thought it was in the sameplace but as I continued to observe, the "object" flashed about every 7 seconds and moved very slowly from southwest to northeast, moving maybe 15" of arc between each flash. I observed for maybe 20 minutes until it left the vicinity of the Veil.
Alll I can think of was that this was a slowly tumbling satellite, but I had not seen one move so slowly before. Any ideas?
