10" or 12" Intelliscope?

Hello everyone,
I have decided on one of the Orion Intelliscopes as my next purchase. It would appear from what I have been able to find, that the 10" is the more common or popular scope.
Do you think this is so? Is it because of the size/portability or price difference between the two or is there some sort of quality issue that makes the 10" the better choice. Is the extra 2" just not worth the trouble and expense?
I have been using a 5" celestron SLT so Im sure either one will be a vast improvement, I just dont want to be left wishing I had spent the extra couple hundred for the 12".
Does anyone have experience with the 12", or both?
Any input would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

I ponied up the extra dough for the 12", already had a 10" I made and I wanted more aperture. the Orion has satiated my hunger for light(for now). Its really up to you, the 10" is easier to get around with, but the 12 is going to give you a little more of everything your looking for in a scope under the sky.

What has been said is all correct. The 10" is a good tranportable size, the 12" is a good light gathering size. The 10" is more solid than the 12" as far as the base goes. The 12" is somewhat undermounted from what owners have stated to me.
I have a 10" and it is a very nice inexpensve scope that is great as a seated scope. You can sit at a chair and easily reach the EP. The scope is great for kids, because it is so short.
The 12" would probably fit in a van, pickup, or SUV, but would be difficult to fit into a family car.
The wieght of the 12" is a bit more and this can also be a factor.
So buy what you can afford, transport and lift.

I have looked through both and the 12" is better. If you observe mainly from the backyard you will need the 12 inch as the brighter the skies the fainter the images at the eyepiece so the 12 will show more. It's like driving a few miles out with a 10 but you are at home. You need the 12 period. I've been through them all 6" 8" 10" 12.5" 12" from the backyard the 12 is the way to go. The 12 is also a great planetary scope with perfect colmination and...a cooling fan. The fan is a must. Do not forget this or you will think the views are sub par compared to the past scope. You will also need a 2X barlow, Orion's shorty is just fine and then use anything from a 40 MM eyepiece down to a 10 MM and the view will be sharp. I barlow all my dobs. It's a coma corrector that works.
