Hi,

Can anyone point me in the right direction for a shroud for my truss dob? I have some ideas in mind, but I was wondering how you did yours.

Mine would be for a 10" dob. I'm thinking elastic at top and bottom with either snaps or a long zipper along the length. What would you recommend?

Thanks,
Matt

Matt,

Kriege and Berry's book "The Dobsonian Telescope" Practical Manual for Building Large Aperature Telescopes, has many details. It's basically sewn to fit, one end being larger around than the other. They actually recommend getting an experienced seamstress, say someone who does wedding dresses: "The best money you ever spent" was a quote from them. So it doesn't sound like a fun job. I haven't done it myself.

Here is how I did it using a somewhat strecth material. I do not recommend water proof material as you want the moisture to be able to escape from inside the truss, waterproof materials hold the moisture in as well as out.
