Well, I finally got the new 80mm Meade Guide Scope mounted. I had to go completely through the focuser to get it workable, the plastic focuser needed a bit of help. Unfortunately I have not found a replacement metal one for sale that will fit the tube. But for $45 new, one can not complain too much.
This is a DS-80 OTA that I bought from a wholesale house and it is not bad except
for the focuser. The optics are OK and the tube is metal and it puts up a decent
image, good enough to guide with for sure.
I built the mounting plate and saddles for the Orion Rings and then mounted it to the existing holes in the cradle.
The new StellarVue F50W2 finder is also mounted and the three white tubes look pretty nice I think. It is a great finder and I like the optics a lot.
Now it is ready to try some imaging, that is if the weather will let me.
I have done quite a lot of work, tuning the mount and even worked on the original focuser for the 127ED, replacing the upper metal slider with a Teflon one. Made the motion smooth and adjustable to a better degree for friction control.
