Congrats Ron! I look forward to your many new adventures with the NP127. Have you christened it with a name yet?

Hi Ron,

Congrats on the new scope! What is the diameter of the main body of the tube (or the inner diameter of the rings)? I'm curious if the cradle and Gibraltar 5 might work with my AP130.

That sure is a nice looking scope Ron. The pictures don't do it justice. I went from an NP-101 to an AP-130F/6. In pictures the 5" doesn't look that much bigger, but when your holding them side by side, the 5" feels a whole lot bigger. Welcome to the 5" club.

Beautiful.

Won't you, just for a little while at least, miss the little guy? cwy

Happy trails with your new scope.
Mike

Thanks Mike.

Not yet missing the "little guy" ;-).

Congratulations! That is one small scope for a 5-inch refractor. I would really enjoy the flat-field low power views. One thing that's always bothered me with short f/l scopes is the inevitable field curvature at low power.

Now, what you'll really need for that scope is a nice ED barlow....ha ha ha, just kidding-

Scott

PS, I love your yard! very nice.

Last night I was scanning the stars in Cygnus and visited M45 and it was awesome flat-field viewing, Scott!

I sure wish the ED barlow would have worked out. But I'm making do with my 2-4mm Nagler zoom; this zoom is definitely designed for short f/ratio APO refractor!

Congratulations on the new scope, Ron. It's a beauty. The NP127 may be bigger, but it has some big shoes to fill. The 'little' TV102 Light Cup was the scope that launched 1,000 (or thereabouts) very informative & interesting internet posts. Rare the scope that can make that claim.

I've noticed my scope buying pattern sort of follows yours. First a TV102 in 2001 and then an 8" Discovery PDHQ in late 2003. And now.....OMIGOSH! I'll hafta sell the boat!

Love your backyard/observing site. Are you at liberty to divulge the identity of triplet APO you had your fling with?

Good luck with the NP127.
