Focuser extension?

I took out my new refractor on Friday night, I added the diagonal and plopped in my EP, but there isn't enough out travel in the focuser for the OTA to come into focus. Is it reasonable for a refractor to need an extension in order for it to come to focus? It seems odd that any manufacturer would design a scope that does this. Is there any productive reason why a scope would do this?

Nothing in education is so astonishing as the amount of ignorance it accumulates in the form of inert facts.

What is the scope in question and also, were you using a 1.25 inch diagonal in a 2 inch focuser...

What kind of scope? Certainly this is the case for Takahashi "NSV" scopes, or any TMB with 8" or 9" of in-focus. Indeed binoviewing capability would be what you gain.
