I just received this email from Bill at Discovery:

John:
We apologize for the delay but your tube shipped today via Fed Ex ground.
The tracking number is as follows:
xxxx
Thank You for your business.
Best Regards,
Bill/Discovery

I am speechless. I really didn't think anything was going to happen. I think I owe a great debt of gratitude to the Astromart community (actually, I know I do). Thank you all for your input, support, and civil discourse, on both sides of the issue. (And a special thank you to Bob Schilling for actually getting in touch with Bill.) I will try to be more eloquent later this evening, but I'm a bit stunned right now. And relieved. And happy to finally be able to use this scope.

Wow. I think I may feel empowered here. As part of the Amature Astronomer collective...

Also, a thank you to Discovery for finally sending the tube. I look forward to receiving it and pretending I know how to build a scope. Now to not screw up the hardware transfer!

With Deep Gratitude, Fellow AM'ers,
John Powers

John:

I hope it all happens for you, looks promising.

I not sure posting the tracking number is the best idea, it may cause an overload as everyone tracks this shipment as it makes its way across the US. So far, the fedex website has no info on you package.

EXCELLENT NEWS! grin grin grin I hope the switchover goes smoothly. I sincerely hope Bill genuflects over what has transpired here and begins to repair his public relations image. I would still like to own one someday, but for now I will have to take a wait and see attitude. I truly believe that when manufacturers realize each customer is no longer an isolated and abuseable individual, it is better for all of us.

I would delete the tracking number as Jon suggests...

This is wonderful news! I believe they are right about that #. Maybe x's instead. wink
We all will be awaiting your report on the "delivery". This is getting exciting now , almost like waiting for the other kind of delivery.

That's great, John!
I'm glad it's finally on the way.
I received a reply from Bill myself, in response to my earlier attempt at intervening.
I will not post it here, nor attempt to psychoanalyze it.
Suffice to say, you have got results! grin
