All of those not so good UO Orthos can be sent to me for proper disposal! wink I have UO Orthos, both Volcano Top and HD style and they all seem to work rather well. I also have some other Volcano tops that are a little earlier of Circle-T and they all seem to work about the same. :S So, just maybe a certain run of manufacture were not as good?

I've had the same very positive experiences with UO orthos (volcano top), though I have no idea of their vintage.

My Ortho's work extremely well in my scopes but I am curious to see exactly how much better the TV plossl line is.

UO orthos work fine, all I was saying in the other thread was that in my scope, they were pretty bad for fine detail on Jupiter and Saturn compared to my UO 8mm and 6.5mm konigs, which I later tested against eyepieces you can actually still find (TV plossls). The TV plossls were quite good, almost as much snap to focus as the konigs and the same contrast. A celestron ultima someone put in my scope was about as good.

Point being, UO orthos performed like $40 eyepieces in my scopes. I seem to have great luck with pre-owned Meades.
