Have you ever wondered WHY Televue has not made Illuminated Reticle eyepieces? With the quality of their "regular" eyepieces, I could only assume they would sell them like hotcakes...

I guess not a large enough market for them huh? :S

Considering how many of us use Kellners for reticle eyepeices, I am not surprised.

What we use reticle eyepeices is not viewing, but finding and guiding. The object of interest is, by definition, in the center of the field, where nearly all eyepieces will give a pretty sharp image. So, I don't see much need for quality to the edges.

I suppose it would be nicer to have the extra field of view, but not worth the Televue prices.

I have and Orthoscopic 12.5mm lighted reticle that is quite nice. Edge to edge is sharp, but less FOV of course.

I have a 9mm TeleVue Ortho with an illuminated reticle that is designed for use as a guiding eyepiece. Bought it from Apogee Inc a few years back.
