Hello all,

I have just got an older Celestron orthro 12.5 reticle 1.25in eyepiece but didn`t have a battery in it for sizing.I was told that a replacement LR44 would do even if I had to double them up to fit but the LR44`s I seen were way too small to fit properly and am unsure of the voltage that would be too much for it.Does anybody out there have the same eyepiece or can recommend a battery that would work for it.

Yes you can us the LR 44's. The old "Mercury" bateries are not allowed in the USA any more so the older Illum eyepieces need a "little" modification.

All you need to do is wrap the two stacked LR44's with a piece of cardboard, tape etc. - as long as the top and bottom (+/-) contacts are long enough it works.
