The best Imaging Software?

Posted By Adam Albino

Well, Moved on to a new computer running XP and found that my workhorse processing software - Bruce Johnston's SuperFix - will not work. Seems MS decided not to carry on that great tradition of using DOS as an OS frame :-)

Anyway, I'm going to continue to use it on an older laptop (It still is one of the best out there IMO), but I'd really like to have a processing software on the XP machine - Sooooooo... What is the best out there toay? PS?, M-DL/CCD? What say you all?????

Digital Camera diferences

From an Astrophoto standpoint What's the difference between the Canon EOS Digital Rebel, The Canon EOS 10D, and the Canon EOS 20D? What are the advantages/Disadvantages?

Re: Clear CCD condensation upon cooling

I think most cooled CCD's have this problem. SBIG uses a little packet of condensation absorbing material next to the chip.

I've viewed 3C 273 many times in my 8" - and at least a few in the 6".

Re: DSI/Focal Reducer/W.O. Microfocuser Connection

Posted By Adam Albino

Well to get the full f3.3 the Meade FR uses an extension tube - I forget the length 15mm-33mm maybe? However the WO focuser is much longer so if you were to put the FR on first I think - even if you could get it to focus on the chip - would have a lot of distortion (IE the Reduction would be way less the 3.3). I'd bet that the way you did it first would be correct.

That said - no reason not to try and experiment - I have lots of FR's and Barlows, I stack, and place in different configurations all the time to see what works. No reason not to - it's fun!

Re: Do You Own An "Ad Astra" Mak?

One sold years ago here on A-Mart (At least an ad). Saw one on the "other" site a few years back also. From time to time they come up. There was an article on one of his scopes (the 20" I believe you mentioned) in S&T a while back also....
