I would appreciate anyone's views on any and all EPs on this forum. I don't care if it is a cheap Plossl or TV Nagler, it will be welcome.
This forum is for discussion of EPs and I openly invite any comments that you would like to make concerning your likes or dislikes.

No can do Mr. Blue. At least not yet.

If I list out the EP's that I think are the best bang for the buck prior to catching a good deal, I'll never get a good deal and fill the holes. wink

Like most things in life, the answer is "It depends!" smile

But for my 20" Starmaster, the best, most used eyepiece is the 17mm Nagler w/ and w/o a 2x barlow. The stars are pinpoint across the entire field of view and that 82 degree fov is impressive!

For binoviewing, I really like the 30mm Ultimas.

Thanks

Floyd, and
I look forward to commenting on my newly acquired 26 Nagler, but I haven't had an opportunity to put it to good use yet. It showed up 2 days after my recent trip to Mt. Pinos. I have high expectations for it though. It should come in handy on larger open clusters and nebulae, as well as galactic clusters ( the open ones, not the globulars wink ).
It seems to be an underappreciated EP, standing in the shadow of the more popular 31 Nagler. I opted to keep my 41 Panoptic which provides a little more FOV. The 26 will sport a little more power than the 31 would (61x vs. 51x), and give me a greater FOV than the 27 Panoptic which it replaced.
Stay tuned for more details...

=================================

9mm Expanse

I had read that this was the best of the Expanse line specifically with regard to fast focal ratios. So I buyed one recently here in the classifieds. It are optically keeno at f5. Focus is outward from most of my other ep's. Eyerelief is slim. But it is in fact a very good 9mm 66* afov ep for an f5 newt. I expect it will behave similarly in my f/4.5 when they meet.
