What causes black-out while I am slewing with a Meade 56mm. Plossl? Is this the same as "Kidney Bean" woes? I don't experience it with my TV 24mm. Pan. any help would be great. I don't remember this happening with a TV 55mm. Plossl I once owned.. JM

Hi:

What scope are you using it with..

A 55mm Plossl has some long eye relief making it hard to keep centered when slewing.

Hi John,
Indeed, this is eye position difficulties due to the long eye relief. Some times called kidney bean, you just have to keep you eye in the right spot. This is why so many EPs now come with adjustable eye cups. I would say that if it were mine I would make a sleeve to slip over the barrel and make my own adjustable eye cup with it. It could be plastic or even a cardboard sleeve, like a toilet paper inner roll. wink Paint it black and no one would know. grin
