Anyone use the Celestron 50mm Axiom in a F/10 SCT? I know, shut up with you wanting a low power ep, will ya.

Any hoot, my telescope dealer also a serious viewer said he can't imagine getting anything else but this ep for the 9.25 SCT at this focal length. He said he looked through this ep in his friends 9.25 and was amazed. Would like some other comments.

I had the pleasure of viewing the andromeda galaxy through this ep loaned to me by a friend and attached to my C6 refractor at a recent star party. WOW, now I'm trying to find one to buy.....Dave

Largest actual FOV in a 2" eyepiece is around 1.186deg (with 46mm field stop) for this scope.

For example the 41mm Panoptic (68 deg AFOV) has the widest true FOV - which is 9mm less FL -which correlates to increased magnnification - yet same actual FOV as the Axiom. You gain nothing in FOV but loose magnification.

Same is true for the 31 Nagler to the Panoptic....

I have owned this eyepiece and used it extensively in my C9.25 and a Meade 8" SCT. It is so very sweet. Not too much eye relief like most 50+ degree plossls but just enough to be comfortable. Absolutely pinpoint sharp from edge to edge.

This eyepiece is essentially not an Axiom but rather an Ultima. It is a five element masuyama design and highly likely identical optically to the 50mm Tak LE which costs so much more.
