I really want to get a C9.25 for it's great combination of aperture, optics, and relative portability. Mainly for the portability reason, I want to get the lightest mount that I can that will still provide reasonable stability. Lower cost doesn't hurt either. It doesn't have to be a go-to mount. Does anybody have any good suggestions for a mount?

I had my C9.25" on a Vixen GP-DX and then a Vixen Sphinx. Both these were rated by the manufacturer as 22lb load capacity. For widefield views these were ok, but high power studies on planets was frustrating, especially when you had to focus. The moment I touch the focuser the image would shake violently. I would think if you want light weight and portability mounts like these will work but you need a remote focuser like Meade's if you want to do planets and double stars at higher magnifications.
Good luck, Ivan

I think it really depends on what you want to do - if visual only with just the basic accessories you would probably be fine with the gm-8, gp-dx, or even the eq6/Atlas. If you start using heavier accessories, or want to do photography, I'd move up to the ci-700/G-11/CGE type mounts - well worth the extra $. The cg-5 is way to light IMO.

Check out the Discmounts. I have a C9.25 and have tried various mounts and after a few years just got a Discmount DM-6. It is a great mount and can't say enough about how easy it is to use and setup. It is also very stable. I have seen more deep sky objects from my light polluted front yard in the last few weeks than I had for years due to the new mount and Sky Commander. Only drawback is that they are not cheap but it is built to last a lifetime and I can't imagine anything going wrong with it. A lighter, lower cost option is the Unistar which I think is a excellent choice for a lightweight mount that is very easy to setup and use.
