Full field of view?

Quick question I was hoping someone can assist me with. Will I be able to utilize the entire field of view a 26mm Nagler Type 5 can provide in a C9.25 SCT (or any SCT?)? I would assume so, but want to make sure prior to spending the bucks. Of course, I would rather purchase one used here, but all I'm seeing are the Nagler 22 Type 4 and 31 Type5. Is their something wrong with the 26mm or does no one want to part with one? I could post a wanted ad, but not at this time.

Thanks,

Rob

Hi Rob. I use a 30mm (46mm field stop, 84* AFOV) EP in my C8 and can view the whole field, no problem. I am also using a W.O. 2" SCT diagonal. Since the 26 Nagler has a smaller field stop than 46mm you should have no problem at all.

I certainly have seen nothing on this forum suggesting that there is anything wrong with the 26mm nagler. It is a relatively new product for Televue, intended for fast scopes (large dobsonians) where the exit pupil of the 35 panoptic or the 31 mm Nagler gets rather large (it is also considerably lighter than the 2 pound 31mm). I suspect that people buying the 26 tend to be trading in a 31 mm nagler or 35 mm panopitc for it. This puts the latter on the market. It also means that the buyers are making a fine-tuning decision based on considerable knowledge and are less likely to wind up selling the eyepiece.

They do come up, though not recently.

Absolutely! I have an C-8" SCT and all the Naglers work very well in it.
The 26mm is a wonderful EP but the cost is very close to the 31mm. That might be why they are not as available. I have seen a few here for sale though.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I'll probably wait a week or two to see if the 26mm pops up for sale here, otherwise will purchase one new to replace my 25mm plossl.
