Email response times

I noted recently a couple of postings complaining about email response times.
Now it struck me and I wonder if I'm now to slow to deserve dealing on Astromart:

I reponded to a sellers ad, the seller responded by saying its still up
and what the total with shipping would be and if its ok with me.

I replied "$xx is fine with me, please let me know where to paypal the funds".

He replied "... send to xxx ...", but I did't read this answer for another 20hrs,
as I was out watching the perseids and then sleeping in.

The next day at noon I have two emails: The above to pay and another one that he
now sold to someone else. Both sent within less than 20hrs of each other.

In the followup he declares I have issues with promptly takeing care of my business,
he had no idea I'll actually buy it and that 20hrs is obviously enough time for others,
like his current buyer.
There was no mentioning of deadlines or urgency up to this point, nor did he reply
to my previous emails the same day, Given we were in different timezones, this is
came as no surprise to me.

I wonder: Is answering emails once a day no more acceptable for normal (i.e. not time-critical) business ?

Also, for me a deal was mutually confirmed. Should I leave feedback to document
such rude attitude ? I'm thinking of 3 stars, per FAQ the "average" rateing, but
still well below the real average rateing.

I had nearly the same experience. I saw an ad and replied. The seller responded, and we made the deal. I wrote that I will send the payment the next day, in the morning. Here is the next email:

"LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT IT AND WHEN U ARE SENDING THE M.O"

follwed by this 20 mins later

"i marked it sold but am gonna pull that if i dont hear from you on when u sending m.o"

Now Im eating dinner and going about my business thinking I made a sure deal. I did check my emails a little later and replied again, with the actual date and time I planned on sending the payment. (which was the next morning. Did I have to spell it out?)

I did recieve the item I wanted, but never recived another email, not a rating. I just looked and the guy has 5x ratings recieved to given. So check the ratings first- wildly lopsided ratings - beware! People who lack the courtesy to leave ratings usually lack courtesy period.

Once he said you have a deal, then it is a binding contract in my eye. Unless it is explicitly stated that you have XX hours to respond at which time the deal is null.
To me 24 hours for a response is barely adequate for some people. If I do not hear from them for 24 hours I just send a message asking for a reply that we are still on for the deal. But I will not withdraw the deal unless they do not reply for 48 hours, which to me is proper time for anyone to get their email and reply.
However, I have had people have serious problems pop up that caused them to not respond quickly. This is something that no one has control over, but if 48 hours go by without a reply then I send an email stating this and that I will now contact the second in line.
