First light with my ZWO ASI533MC. I bought it off Victor at Woodland Hills Telescope. Victor has been imploring me to get a dedicated astrocamera for sometime. It's a dandy. Subs were taken with SharpCap, guided by PHD2 with my vintage 1996 Celestar 8 guided through a Shoestring Astronomy USB interface. I get "subpixel" correction, of you can believe that. I used an f6.3 reducer and an IDAS nebula enhancer filter (Ha, Hb, Oiii and Nii). The key to getting the core of M42 was running a sensor analysis in SharpCap and exposing with the resulting well depth in mind (here, 16,000e versus 50,000e at gain 105). This is 40 subs at 220 seconds - intermittent dithering - processed through DSS and StarTools, sharpened with Topaz and with a smidge of Photoshop midtone balance. Thanks for looking.
