Description
Mars is quickly approaching earth and will be arriving for its closest approach on October 6, 2020. On the night of September 23, 2020, the seeing conditions were rather dismal but they rapidly improved so I took a look at Mars. Mars was looking back at me! Solis Lacus (The Eye of Mars) was the prominent feature visible. I took some photos and put together a composite image that represents what I saw. I used a Celestron 14” SCT and a ZWO ASI290MC camera. North is up on all images.
