Description

Approaching full moon, there is still quite a bit of detail visible in this image. Conditions the past year have been poor. The night of October 8 was a clear exception, with excellent seeing and better than average transparency. This image is a cropped JPG save from a larger TIFF image using Digital Photo Professional. Scope is Starmaster with 14.5" Zambuto f4.3 mirror and Skycommander goto/tracking. Camera is Canon T3i camera in HD video mode. MOV video file was pre-processed in pipp to obtain AVI frames, which were then aligned and stacked with Autostakkert, using best 5% of about 1200 frames to produce the TIFF image.
