Description

IC 63, sometimes called the "Gamma Cas nebula", is a (relatively weak) emission nebula in Cassiopeia, about 600 light years distant. A rather ghostly object, it's challenge lies in its faintness and its proximity to Gamma Cassiopeiae itself. This image is about three hours of exposure through a 5nm-bandwidth hydrogen-alpha (656nm) filter.
