Description
Yes, another Messier 1 :-) Decided to grab something bright in a little window of time this winter. M1 is always a classic, and this short LRGB image taken in poor seeing conditions still produces a pleasing effect. Supernova remnants are inherently interesting, and the "Crab", at "only" 2Kpc distant, is one of the most interesting, having as it does a pulsar stellar remnant in its core. It's a very bright X-ray and gamma-ray source, and measures roughly 13 light years across (that's 7 arc-minutes of apparent size).
