Description
This is an image of NGC3576, aka The “Statue of Liberty†nebula. This region of new star formation creates powerful stellar winds which gives the molecular cloud from which its star clusters were born a billowing shape consisting of looping filaments. NGC3576 is 9,000 light-years distant, 100 light-years in diameter and lies in the southern constellation of Carina.
