Neutron stars are a little strange. A neutron star, as the name implies, is composed almost entirely of neutrons. They are some of the most dense objects in the universe. How dense you ask? Well if you took mount Everest and compressed it into the size of a pea you’d probably be close to the actual density of a neutron star. Most atoms are actually empty space. Take all of the repulsive forces away and you get this incredibly dense object. If you could actually grab a tiny piece of a neutron star watch out! After killing you with its tremendous radiation and crushing you into nothing it would plunge through the Earth’s crust and head straight towards the Earth’s core. If we (The Earth) were unlucky enough to be in the neighborhood (a couple of light-years) of a supernova it would really ruin our weekend! The radiation would fry everything on Earth.
