I was fortunate to be able to fly to Chongqing from Shanghai when it was clear to us that it would not be clear in Shanghai on 22 July for the total solar eclipse. The trade of 6 minutes of dark clouds for just over 4 minutes of completely visible totality worked out. This image is a combination of 11 digital exposures with a Fuji S2 Pro camera and a Tamron 300/2.8 lens at f/4. Exposure times ranged from 1/250 to 3 seconds. I used Fitswork to combine the images and enhance the result, but reduced the contrast to render the appearance of the corona as seen from the center of Chongqing. There was a high thin overcast, but the low level smog and haze attenuated the sunlight, reduced the contrast, and cut off much of the outer corona. Still, our group were very satisfied that we saw the entire eclipse.
