This photo is a composite. The images were shot from about 5:20am to 5:40am EDT, 7/5/09, from a location in the northern Midwest It starts with a main wide-field image taken with a 1-second exposure that overexposes Jupiter (false color is from the G3 lens), but shows the overall relationship of Jupiter, its moons, mu Capricorni, and Neptune, all in one shot. Overall system magnification for this shot is 37X. Then I inserted a zoomed (4X optical in the camera) shot of Jupiter with its moons (all one image at 1/20th second exposure), and a zoomed (4X optical again) shot of Neptune at 5 seconds exposure time. Overall system magnification for these shots is 148X.
