Some days ago i planned to photograph the full moon rising from the 2500 year old temple of Poseidon at Sounio, Greece. Has been done before, but i wanted to give my personal point of view of this marvelous sight! I very carefully chose a photographic site that would allow the two targets to have similar apparent brightness and illumination, so that none of them would be overexposed. Conditions were actually favorable and here are my results. Despite the fact that the moon was only two days after apogee and had an apparent diameter of only 30 arcminutes, the moon illusion was very strong and the moon looked huge! Also, it appears quite distorted due to refraction of the atmosphere. June 18, 2008, 18:13 UT, Sounio, Greece. Canon EOS 400D, 70-200 F2.8 zoom lens, 2x converter.
