Taken through my kitchen window, with an ancient (1970s)70-220mm Soligor manual zoom lens and a Pentax istDS DSLR. This little hummer visited my feeder for a couple of weeks in mid-September, then vanished (presumably headed for the Gulf Coast). She chittered at me once in a while if I was late putting the feeder out. I used a remotely-triggered Vivitar 283 autoflash from camera left, at a distance of less than 4 feet from the bird. The bird was 4 feet from the camera, which used a camera-mounted ringlight strobe to trigger the remote. The background is dark because the feeder is about 30 feet from my back fence and about 20 feet from a small group of trees. This was made mid-morning (sunlight coming from the right). Shutter speed was 1/180th second, ISO 200, F22.
