Description
A widefield image of the California Nebula in H alpha, taken to find its full extent. Burnhams Handbook gives an angular size of about 2 1/2 degrees for the nebula, but the nebulosity here covers over 6 degrees. Nikon 180mm lens, STL6303 camera, Barr Associates 4nm Ha filter. Nine hours exposure, processing in Maxim.
