An arch in the ancient Roman town of Palmyra, in eastern Syria, frames Orion rising from the desert. Canon 20D, at 18 mm, 400 ISO, 30 sec, F5.6. Flimsy little travel tripod. But it worked. The night was very cold and windy (note the moving palm tree).
