Description
Wide field (3.8 x 2.7 deg.) taken from suburban Melbourne with a 200mm SMC Takumar (Pentax/Asahi) at f4 and an ST-8XE autoguiding a Losmandy G-11. The Magellanic Clouds are awash with hot stars, hydrogen and nebulosity. For the LMC, Henizes 221 HII objects were expanded to 329 by Davies, Elliot and Meaburn. The naked eye Tarantula Nebula is seen in the lower left, but note the little known super-bubble, Ball-o-String N70 (DEM 301) towards the top left and the spiral nebula embedded in the Cloud; neither indexed in either the NGC or IC catalogues.
