My nephews and I were out viewing the moon that Saturday evening when one of them asked if we could take a picture. I set up my homemade digital camera adapter, my Olympus c-5000 point and shoot and my 40mm plossel. did my normal set up of white balance correction and focusing,by the time i was ready to take the pictures the moon had moved quite south of me putting it directly over Mt. St. Helens. To the naked eye it looked whitish-to whiteblue as it got closer to the southerly direction from my location. Imagine my suprise upon downloading the pictures off of the chip that i had actually captured a blue moon. No filters of anysort were used to capture this picture. It was at ISO 160 for 1/250th of a second. Meade LX90 8SCT w/UHTC purchased at Anacortes Telescope and Wild Bird!
