Description
I took this image on 27Mar1997 from Red Canyon, AZ. (Canon AE-1P with 28-mm lens at f/5.6. Kodak Royal Gold 400 negative film exposed for 15-mins.) This image was taken on one of the darkest nights of my life. It was warm and ultra dry, meaning that the usual light domes were almost non-existant. This allowed me to easily photograph the Zodiacal light, the big triangle-shaped zone of light extending up from the horizon to the Pleiades. Also visible are the Hyades, California Nebula, Double Cluster, and some nebulosity in Cassiopia. The irony of this pic is that the dust tail of Comet Hale-Bopp was putting off huge amounts of dust. That dust is the source of the scattered sunlight that causes the Zodiacal Light!
