This image was taken from the Blue Ridge Parkway near Roanoke Virginia. The site is the regular site of the Roanoke Valley Astronomical Society south of Roanoke. The air was unusually dense this night, so I was seeing skyglow from the lights of Martinsville and Rocky Mount VA. The sky was clear, so I started shooting. I used a Canon 10D piggybacked on a Meade 10 LX200 Classic. The lens was a Canon 28-135MM Image Stabilized. Shot at maximum field (about 45MM) at f5.6 for 4 minutes. The scope was in Alt-Az mode. I havent seen a clear night with that much moisture in the air since that night. Shot on 7/20/2003.
