IMHO, it's worth getting an illuminator, Tak or not (FYI, illuminators for reticle eyepieces = at least the ones for Meade - will fit the Tak finder).

The finder cross-hairs are very fine, and do tend to disappear into the sky background.

My TOA-130's 7x50 finder has an illuminator. It's not overwhelmingly bright, but does illuminate the crosshairs nicely, allowing easier centering of objects in the finder.
