The new Extender Q is optimised for the New Q, I believe that it would not be the right answer for the legacy Q, in fact the ATWB listing says It is not compatible with the original FSQ-106.

I have one for my New Q and it is much more user friendly than the old combo.

The lens system is built into a short 2" extender tube that fits and accepts regular 2" tubes, rather than threaded. In fact the lenses are cleverly built into the tube in such a fashion that your 2" diagonal tube slides around the optics.

I can also report that the new extender Q does noticeably increase the color correction of the New Q substantially. Namely a small amount of red around the out of focus fresnel rings goes away completely leaving just a touch of blue. In focus it is colorless.

It is necessary that heavy diagonals and the Ext Q be very square and tight otherwise a small "color wedge" due to tilt creeps in.
