I took the plunge yesterday and ordered a TOA 130. I am just a bit nervous about my decision because of the $$$. My question is that there is a FS 128 for sale on Astromart right now and could save a few thousand because of the package deal. What is the difference between the FS and the TOA and is it worth considering going with the FS?

I will use the scope at first visually then add a camera in a few months as my bank account recovers.

Thanks
Harry

Hi Harry,
I haven't used a Tak 128, but I do have a TOA-130. It's used almost exclusively for visual observing, and does indeed live up to its reputation. As well, I use it at the Denver Astonomical Society monthly open houses, and the scope consistently gets unsolicited comments from members of the public about its outstanding image quality.

If you do get the TOA-130, make sure you have a heavy duty mount for it (I use a Losmandy G11). The tube assembly has a lot of glass in it, and is weighty for its size.
