Has any Takahashi Mewlon users out there tried to fit/adapt a non Takahashi brand manual Craysford style focusing unit. Presently Takahashi has a Cassegrain Focuser (TCF 0212) available for use with their Mewlon and CN212 line of scopes but I wonder if any users of these scopes have focuser unit made by the likes of Starlight Instruments fitted. Just the Tak TCF 0212 is $$$$$ and I am wondering if the electric focusing unit on the Mewlon 250 requires the assistance of a manual system for CCD imaging.

Here's what I did for my Mewlon 210:

Alpine Astro (Astromart Sponsor) has a M71-72 adapter that is advertised for the Mewlon 300, but it fits the 210 as well.

Borg has a 7912 adapter that adapts the Takahashi M72 threads to work with Borg components.

Borg has another component that fits into the 7912 and exposes SCT threads.

Put them all togehter, and you can use any SCT accessory (including external SCT focusers!).

Attached is a picture showing the exploded parts leading up to a JMI NGF-S focuser that has seen duty on SCT's, refractors and now this Mewlon thanks to the various adapters I've found.

HTH,
Eric
