p.s.  I read the MEMA chamber of commerce letter to Trump, and I think they are exaggerating quite a bit when they claim to have turned Dearborn red because of Trump's outreach.

Even so:  If the economy is in the dumpster by 2026-27, or if there is a foreign policy crisis like expanded war in Europe or the Middle East, or if Trump is mired in self-inflicted scandal, then I think the D candidate wins the presidency in 2028 no matter who the candidate is and no matter who their opponent is. 

The question then becomes who will the D's nominate in a fair and open nominating fight?  (The D's have not had a fair and open nominating fight since Obama's first run for the presidency, and I hope they are smart enough to learn from that.)  Either way, if Trump or circumstances give the voters the itch to throw out the incumbents, one more time, Newsome will win if he wins the nomination.  I wonder how that will go.
