Anybody know if/when these will be ready. I have tried to contact Burgess Optics and have not received a response.

9/3/09 Shadow Transit

Posted By Michael Tencza

I saw my first shadow transit last evening almost from beginning to end and was wondering if anyone photographed it. I would love to see the posted images and use one for my computer screen background.

Burgess/TMB Planetary Series

I use the 9mm and 4mm with a 120mm f/8.3 achromat and they work very well. Even the 4mm is easy to focus on most nights and I appreciate the eye relief and wide fields of view. I am going to add the 7mm pretty soon and then the 5mm when I save up a bit. I used to use orthoscopics but learned that eye relief is important to someone with glasses like myself. I have been advised on this site that I would get very little or no benefit from buying premium eyepieces for my current refractor. For the price these seem to be the best you can do condsidering the performance you get. BTW if you buy them used make sure you are getting a recent production run as the earlier ones had some problems with the retaining rings causing reflections. A kit was supposed to be provided to remedy the situation but some owners may not have bothered.

TMB planetary eyepieces, why two types?

Posted By Michael Tencza

Just my two sense. I have replaced my orthoscopics with BO/TMB planetaries and have been very happy with them. Others have reported similar results.

Choose the EP

There is a used 40mm Paragon that came up this AM on Amart. If it is still available you would likely be happy with it.

Need a bit of help deciding on what to get next

I agree with Jon's suggestion but would not rule out the 13T6 Nagler for 195x depending on your seeing conditions. Remember to try before you buy to see what you like.

Fuel Industry Ignored Its Scientists on Climate

It should not amaze or astonish anyone that business will suppress anything that interferes with profit. Phillip Morris did it for decades with tobacco and I am certain there are other cases.
