Re: $40k for an apo shot of Jupiter???

My guess is that a purely visual observer would have an incredibly more rich experience spending a good 50 hours watching Mars 2007 through that unobstructed 10" TMB than a C14. My other guess is that IF Damian Peach had that 10" TMB down in Barbados he would surpass his own results.

I just read on CloudyNights that Thomas Back passed away on the 13th of this month. RIP Thomas I will be thinking of you as I watch Mars this season.

12 DVD set

Posted By Mike Clemens

After sitting on my butt in front of a computer or telescope for 20 years, I bought a 12 DVD exercise set off an infomercial back in May : ) it's called P90X and I've worked out with one of those DVD daily for almost 130 days straight. I love it, and I give them my highest rating possible -- life changing! Especially if you adopt a high protein nutrient balanced diet with it. Maybe I'll be able to carry my AP1200 around in one piece next year.

Pimpin' the new TEC200/9 ED

Posted By Mike Clemens

Bought just in time evidently. Yuri just posted that the TEC200's (both ED and FL) may go the way of the do-do bird in 2008. So far only 1 clear night with mediocre seeing since its been installed in the observatory. Still, it showed some nice Martian detail during the best moments. Looking forward to learning to use the webcam better with it.

feedback fell

Posted By Mike Clemens

I noticed my feedback dropped out of the 80's and into the 70's. Does this mean someone decided to go and pull a rating, or does it also happen if accounts are deleted, etc. ?

autoguiding while saving your pennies

Posted By Mike Clemens

I'd like to take some deep sky images with the TEC200. If I bolted a small/cheap/long achromat on top of the TEC, what is the cheapest effective guiding solution I can rig up to guide an AP1200? for use with my EOS DSLR.

Thanks!
